Ronan Lee

Ronan Lee

Ronan Lee (born 4 January 1976, Drogheda, Co. Louth, Ireland) is a member of the Queensland State Parliament and has represented the seat of Indooroopilly since he was first elected as an Australian Labor Party member in 2001. Lee is currently a member of the Queensland Greens after defecting from the ALP claiming that the Bligh Government was not paying enough attention to environmental issues [ cite web | title=Blow to Anna Bligh as Ronan Lee quits Labor for Greens | url=http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,24449291-3102,00.html | accessdate=2008-10-06 | date=2008-10-06] .

At the time of his resignation, he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney-General, seen by some as an indication that he was in line for a cabinet position, a claim contradicted by the view of Queensland Premier Anna Bligh that "he found it difficult to be a member of a disciplined team." Lee is well known for his advocacy of alternative transport such as light rail, walking and cycling.
