May 3 ,1951 ) is a U.S. politician. Currently he serves as Assistant Minority Whip in theMinnesota House of Representatives .Background
Tony was educated at
Garden City High School inGarden City Township, Minnesota and has received secondary education. From 1975 to 1977 Cornish served the City ofAmboy, Minnesota as a police officer. From 1977 to 1980 he served as a deputy county sheriff forBlue Earth County, Minnesota . In 1980 he became a conservation officer for theMinnesota Department of Natural Resources , serving 22 years before retiring in 2002. Currently Tony is residing inGood Thunder, Minnesota . He is single, with three children, and is affiliated with theLutheran Church - Missouri Synod . He is the uncle of former Minnesota GovernorJesse Ventura 's wife, Terry.Political career
He was elected to the
Minnesota House of Representatives during the elections of 2002 as a Republican. He has been re-elected twice and began his third term in the Minnesota House January, 2007. He is currently on the following committees: Environment and Natural Resources; Finance; Game, Fish and Forestry Division; Public Safety and Civil Justice; Public Safety Finance Division. Cornish represents district 24B, which is in South Central Minnesota.In the 2007 legislative sesion, Cornish provided cake on his birthday for the House.
