Barbara Ann Woodhead Winder (born
May 9 ,1931 ) was the eleventh general president of theRelief Society ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1984 to 1990.Barabara Woodhead was raised in
East Millcreek, Utah . She attended several years at theUniversity of Utah before marryingRichard W. Winder .In 1982, Winder accompanied her husband to
California , where he presided over the CaliforniaSan Diego Mission) of the church. At the April 1984 church general conference, Winder was accepted by the church as the president of theRelief Society , withJoy F. Evans andJoanne B. Doxey as her counselors. Winder succeededBarbara B. Smith , who had been Relief Society president since 1974. In April 1990, Winder was released and she accompanied her husband toCzechoslovakia where he was president of the CzechoslovakiaPrague Mission of the church. Winder was succeeded byElaine L. Jack .Winder and her husband are the parents of four children. One of these children is
