Constructed in 1965, it is the ninth tallest habitable structure in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, and, since the completion of the City Hall, it was the first locally designed Skyscraper in Kansas City. The facade is constructed of pre-cast stone and glass, creating a unique look, especially for its time. Located at the intersection of 9th Street and Main St, at 911 Main. Some people think that the address changed after September 11, 2001, however the address did NOT change. However, after the events of September 11th, 2001 the address for the Commerce Bank (actual bank) at 911 Walnut did change its address to 909 Walnut. Another example of this in Kansas City, is the Fidelity Bank and Trust Building, whose address was also changed for the same reason.
The last 15-foot beam was signed by 18,000 people including Harry S. Truman.
