- Albu Salih
Albu Salih tribe ( _ar. آلبو صالح) is an original Arabic tribe which descends from
Shammar tribe, through Al Aslam tribe. They are located inIraq and are concentrated in Al'Aslah ( _ar. الاصلاح), a village in the city ofNasiriyah ; however. they can be found inAmarah , AlBasra andAl Diwaniyah .The population of this tribe is approximately eight hundred thousand people (800,000) and consists of clans from other tribes. However, The two main clans in this tribe, Al Rumaieth and Al Nassrallah tribes both descend from Shammar tribe through different branches. Albu Salih's current President is Sheikh Sabah bin Faris bin Mohsen bin Bader Al Rumaith. Sheikh Sabah now resides in Al Nassriya, Iraq.
Sheikh Bader Al Rumaieth, great grand father of Sheikh Sabah, was well known for his generosity and his concern for his people. Sheikh Bader Al Rumaieth also showed great courage and bravery during the British occupation of southern Iraq in the 1920s. Sheikh Bader, along with other tribes managed to lead his people in the resistance until they had pushed the British out of their tribal land.

Albu Salih appellation
A person belonging to Albu Salih tribe will go by the last name Al Salihiy (Also spelt: Al Salihi, Alsalahi, Alsalhi). However, traditionally Arabs tend to go by their first name followed by their fathers name then their grandfather's name and so on.
