Hyde Park Bank (Chicago)

Hyde Park Bank is a bank based in Hyde Park, Chicago. Founded by prominent Hyde Park banker, realestate developer and lawyer, Johan Alexander Carroll in 1929. The exisiting Bank building was created and planned just before the stock market crash of 1929 whereby many investors lost their money. Bank President Carroll refunded the banks customers 69 and 3/4% of their initial investments paying the balance from the Bank's reserves and eventually from his own pocket over a ten plus year period. The bank has two branches, one of which is near the campus of the University of Chicago, and the other in the Hyde Park Bank Building on 53rd Street.
