Michael Ratu is a professional rugby league player. His usual position is centre although he made his First Team debut on the wing as a substitute against Salford City Reds in August 2007.

Playing career

Before joining Leeds, he played for Higgleshaw Cagies, playing for them when they won the Oldham Cup. He also played for Wigan Warriors. He signed a three-year contact with the Rhinos, despite Wigan offering him a new contact.[1] He played for the Rhinos' academy from 2004. Although he played for the Rhinos' first team, he mostly played in the academy. He played for the Fiji in the 2009 Pacific Cup.

He has signed a two-year deal with Hull KR.[2]

Personal life

His favourite sportsperson is Muhammed Ali.[citation needed] The person he most admires in the game is Lesley Vainikolo.[citation needed] He supports both Leeds Rhinos and Manchester United.[citation needed]

Outside rugby

Ratu was schooled at Falinge Park High School near Shawclough, where one of his signed shirts still hangs today.

Honours

He has represented England U15's ad U16's and has also played for Lancashire and Fiji.[3]
