Outlands (The Lion King)

The Outlands are a fictional place in the Lion King universe. They appear only in the second movie "", and are identified as the place for where Simba banished Zira and her group of lionesses, because they supported Scar, and, according to some fan theories, because Zira murdered Simba's son Kopa. In the Lion King Universe, that group of lions is known as Outlanders or Outsiders.

The Outlands are seen as an extremely dry place, filled with termite mounds, and animal bones. So, it always becomes a mystery how the Outlanders managed to survive there for many years, and become strong, since in the final fight against Simba, the Outlanders are defeating the Pridelanders, before Kovu and Kiara stop the fight, and all the Outlanders, except Zira, change to Simba's side.

"The Lion King"

In the Lion King, Simba speaks about a shadowy place, and Mufasa says that the place is beyond their borders. This place, instead of being the Elephant Graveyard, could be the Outlands, since the Elephant Graveyard seems to be inside the Pride Lands.

"The Lion King II: Simba's Pride"

In this film, the Outlands first appear in the scene where Nuka complains about Kovu, and not him, being Scar's heir. Shortly after, Nuka says Zira that he caught some fieldmice for her dinner. They can also be seen briefly when Kovu is inspectioned by Zira for her to see if he's ready to defeat Simba, and then when Vitani is going to tell Zira that Kovu didn't kill Simba. Shortly after, the battle between Outlanders and Pridelanders happens, and only ends when Kovu and Kiara appear, and Kiara reminds Simba that "We are One". Then, Vitani is the first of the Outlanders to realize that the fight is pointless, and when she changes to Simba's side and says "Enough." all the Outlanders become surprised. When Zira threatens to kill Vitani if she doesn't fight, all the Outlanders change to Simba's side. Then, they go to live in the Pride Lands, leaving the Outlands possibly unoccupied, or at least without any lion living there.
