The history of "Supermercados Peruanos" started in 1993 when the Chilean company "Supermercados Santa Isabel S.A" opened stores in Lima most of those where in locals where used to be an "Scala Gigante" Super or Hypermarket. In 1999 the Netherlands company
Ahold bought the company, and began with the hypermarket proyect, it was calledPlaza Vea and the discount stores Mini Sol(today Mass), but in 2003 the international Royal Ahold decided to sell Supermercados Santa Isabel and in the same year the Peruvian bankInterbank bought the company. In 2005 they opened their first supermarketVivanda on Pezet Avenue inSan Isidro District inLima . In 2006 they started to change some "Santa Isabel" stores into "Plaza Vea 'Super"'. In 2007 Minisol changed their name to "Mass", they also opened their first hypermarket outside Lima inTrujillo , and recently in October another one inChiclayo .Important Labels
