Arvind Raghunathan have been involved in a multi-pronged project to bring greater coverage of Asia to the educational system at both the grade school and university level in the United States. They are working with leading educational institutions in this effort, includingHarvard University andColumbia University . Subramanian was instrumental in introducing the study of theIndus Valley Civilization to the school attended by her children. For this project, she received help from the Harappa Archeological Research Project (HARP) [http://www.harappa.com/indus2/harpframe.html] ,Harvard University andAsia Society . Subramanian also worked with SACSS [http://www.sacssny.org/] to develop the Parent Empowerment Program. This program is designed to help low–income immigrant parents navigate the public school system in New York City [http://www.sacssny.org/programs.htm] .Subramanian recently coordinated a fund-raising effort for the Asian Outreach Program [http://www.aafny.org/directory/new/search.asp?agencyid=30] of The Child Center of New York [http://www.childcenterny.org/] , which runs two clinics in
Queens , New York City. The clinics were established to address the mental health and developmental needs of immigrant Asian children as well as to provide support services for their families.She is married to
