James Brochin is an American politician from Maryland and a member of the Democratic Party. He is currently serving in his 2nd term in the Maryland State Senate, representing Maryland's District 42 in Baltimore County.

Background

Brochin was born in Baltimore, Maryland and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the University of Maryland, College Park. He worked as a legislative analyst for State Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. and as a lobbyist for Baltimore County before becoming a college instructor. He has taught at the Community College of Baltimore County and at Towson University.

Political career

Brochin was elected to the State senate in 2002. He currently sits on the Judicial Proceedings Committee.In January 2008 Brochin endorsed the candidacy of Barack Obama for president of the United States.
