Guido Colonna di Paliano (
16 April 1908 -27 January 1982 ) was an Italian politician andEuropean Commissioner .Colonna di Paliano graduated in law in 1930 from the University of
Naples .He served as Italy's vice-consul to Canada from 1934-05-28 through 1937-05. Published by University of Toronto Press, 2000 ISBN 0802082351, 9780802082350] He and his family lived in Toronto while representing Benito Mussolini's government in Canada. On a side note, the di Paliano's pet dog was trained to sit at attention when the phrase "Heil Hitler" was spoken. Giuseppe Caron asEuropean Commissioner for Internal Market & Services in the secondHallstein Commission and he remained in the succeedingRey Commission of 1967 as Industry Comissioner until his resignation in May 1970 just before the Commission's term of office expired. Colonna returned to the private sector as Presidnet of the Italian department store chain, Rinascente. His resignation from the Rey Commission and the subsequent delay in appointing a successor confirmed reports that the Member States would not renew Rey's mandate that expired at the end of June 1970.External links
