The Blue Note is a music venue in Columbia, Missouri. It was established in 1980 by Richard King[1] and Phil Costello in a restored vaudeville theater.[2] The original Blue Note was located at 912 Business Loop 70 East and moved to its Ninth Street location in the early 90's. It is famous/infamous for the legal case over naming use on the internet. It has hosted numerous musical acts, including REM, Husker Du (their last show), Uncle Tupelo, Meat Puppets, The Replacements, The Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr., Black Flag, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soul Asylum, Shinedown, Dave Matthews Band, Johnny Cash, and Willy Nelson,[3] and holds a free five-part concert series every summer called "Ninth Street Summerfest".[4]

Mojo's, often referred to as "The Blue Note's little sister",[5] is a smaller music venue (capacity 200) also owned by Richard King,[1] which usually books smaller-name bands.
