[cite news |author=Carol Jeffares Hedman |title=Zephyrhills |work=The Tampa Tribune |page=2 |date=1995-10-04] Over his 30-year career, he has focused in particular on paintings in the sword and sorcery and heroic fantasy subgenres. Early in his career he trained under the famous Frank Frazetta. He has depicted Conan the Barbarian, [cite news |author=Joseph Szadkowski |title=Stories take on new shape in sculpted action figures |work=The Washington Times |page=C09 |date=2005-08-06] Tarzan and the rock groups KISS, [cite news |author=Mark Voger |title=Criss eager to meet television idol Zacherley |work=Asbury Park Press |page=6E |date=2006-10-22] Manowar, [cite news |title=Manowar truck to make its debut in Austria this weekend |work=Austria Today |date=2006-09-08] and Rainbow. His work often portrays exotic, enchanted locales and primal battlefields. He recently developed the album artwork for Coheed and Cambria's album, , and a painting of his was used as the cover art for Alabama Thunderpussy's 2007 release, Open Fire.
