"Cherry Hill Park" was written by Robert Nix and Billy Gilmore, and sung by Billy Joe Royal. The song was arranged by Buddy Buie, James Cobb, and Emory Gordy, Jr.; and produced by Buddy Buie and Bill Lowery. It was a hit in 1969 reaching #15 on both the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the Cash Box chart. It came off his 1969 album Cherry Hill Park. The subject of the song is Mary Hill, a woman who has sexual liaisons with various men at Cherry Hill Park (located in Cherry Hill, New Jersey[1]), as noted in the barely disguised double entendre lyrics. However, she "marries away" to a "man with money".
