Biography

Kamal Singh (born 4 February, 1979) of post rock band, Lounge Piranha fame was born in India to diversely ethnic parents. From the age of eleven Kamal has been in complete possession of his guitar strings and his wits. His influences range from Grunge to punk to Indian Carnatic music which manifest in his songwriting and compositions while simultaneously suggesting an attempt to remain minimalist.

As A Performer

In addition to providing the guitar and vocals for local legends Lounge Piranha, Kamal has his very own project labeled 3 Sevens, formed in 2004, which has given rise to originals like Gun Song, Hand Hole, Rotting Lillies, among others, which have kept audiences entranced and asking for more. All material for 3 Sevens is written and composed by Kamal Singh; Swaroop & Rahool on Tabla and Rohan on Bass complete the arrangement. Kamal plays mostly in bangalore, but with Lounge Piranha, he has also traveled to various other places around the country.

Recognition

~Kamal Singh was awarded Songwriter of the Year at the Freedom Jam 2004 ~Gun Song (written and composed by Kamal Singh) was used in a documentary on Mt. Everest which aired on Adrenalina TV (an adventure sports channel, Latin America)
