Regiunea Dolj

Regiunea Dolj (Dolj region) was one of the 1950 newly established administrative divisions of the People's Republic of Romania, set after the soviet style.

History

The capital of the region was Craiova, and its territory comprised ⅔ of the nowadays Dolj County. In 1952 it merged with Gorj region to form Craiova region.

Dolj region had as neighbours:East: Teleorman and Argeş regions; South: People's Republic of Bulgaria; West: People's Republic of Bulgaria and Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia; North: Gorj and Vâlcea regions.

Rayons

Craiova, Cujmir, Pleniţa, Calfat, Băileşti, Segarcea, Gura Jiului, Corabia, Caracal, Balş.
