Dress Code
West Campus High School West Campus, in support of the transition to Leadership and Science focuses, has adopted the following "business casual" dress code:
All Clothing:Must be neat, in good condition and fit appropriately for conventional school standards. Athletic wear, whether professional or collegiate, is not appropriate.
Tops:Must have a sleeve or collar (not crew). Any officially recognized West Campus t-shirt (organization, team, class, school, etc...) is allowed. Armpits and midriffs must be covered.
Bottoms:Jeans, khakis, capris, skirts and shorts may be worn.
Sweatshirts/Jackets:May be plain or have college/university logos, or may be official West Campus sweatshirts (organization, team, class, school, etc).
Shoes:May be either sneakers or leather. Must be closed toe and heel to protect the feet from hallway and classroom hazards.
Belts/buckles:Must be of an appropriate length and may not have initials or logos on them. Belts may not dangle and chains are not to be worn.
Accessories:Purses, jewelry, decorations must not be a distraction and must be safe.
Hats:Only official West Campus hats or beanies may be worn (outside of class only).
Hair:Must not be a distraction to the learning environment.
No article of clothing (or other belonging) may promote drugs, violence, alcohol, racism, discrimination or hate crimes.
The administration reserves the right to make a determination that an item of clothing, a logo, or other style and fashion statements is disruptive or inappropriate and take action to resolve the situation.
Additional information/ guidelines/ explanations:
Tops:The most consistent issue with tops is exposing too much flesh. Tank tops and spaghetti straps are not allowed. Mesh tops may not be worn, even with another garment under them.
Bottoms:Sagging and excessively tight jeans or pants are not allowed. Low rise or hip huggers are not allowed. Athletic shorts, (basketball shorts, running shorts, etc.) are not appropriate except while in gym or working out. Sweat pants and warm-up pants are not business casual and are not allowed except as permitted during PE. Pajama bottoms (and tops!) may not be worn. All skirts and shorts must reach the mid thigh. In general, the shorts and skirts currently in fashion for girls ARE NOT long enough for school and should not be worn. You will have to minimize your fashion sense to be in compliance.
Sweatshirts/Jackets:Trench coats and stadium jackets are prohibited.
Shoes:Flips flops and sandals have proven to be unsafe in the hallways and in science classrooms.
Hair:No Mohawk style hair cuts. Spiked hair must be within reason (3 inches or less).
