area_code =Treviño is a town and municipality located in the province of Burgos, which in turn is part of the autonomous community of
Castile and León ,Spain . Treviño is anexclave of Castile and León, completely surrounded by the province ofÁlava , in the autonomous community of the Basque Country. There is a dispute on whether Treviño should remain in Castile and León, or become a part of the Basque Country. The option of have a plebiscite about it was approved by a majority of voters in a non-official plebiscite organized in Treviño in1998 , but the public consultation was considered void by theSpanish government . Nowadays, Treviño is governed by the Popular Party, which is in favour of Treviño remaining in Burgos and in Castile and León. Treviño is fostering ties with theBasque Government , and a program for teaching theBasque language to young children is being implemented.External links
