New Baden is a village in Clinton County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,349 at the 2010 census.

Geography

New Baden is located at 38°32′8″N 89°42′0″W / 38.53556°N 89.7°W / 38.53556; -89.7 (38.535479, -89.700136).[1]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2010, there were 3,349 people and 1,247 households. There were 1,333 housing units within the city limits. The racial makeup according to the 2010 census of the village was 92.1% White, 2.7% African American, 0.5% Native American, 1.2% Asian, 0.20% Pacific Islander, 1.0% from other races, and 2.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.4% of the population.

There were 1,247 households out of which 36.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.8% were married couples living together, 10.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% were non-families. 24.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.10.

In the village the population was spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $45,859, and the median income for a family was $53,347. Males had a median income of $35,134 versus $23,261 for females. The per capita income for the village was $19,268. About 4.6% of families and 5.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.1% of those under age 18 and 4.8% of those age 65 or over.
