Lautiosaari (standard abbreviation: Li) is a railway junction in the city of
Kemi inFinland . The junction is located approximately twokilometer s north fromKemi railway station on Oulu–Tornio main line where theElijärvi branch line diverges from the main line. The junction is named after nearbyLautiosaari village withinKeminmaa municipality.The junction consists of three
railway signal s and two interlocked and corresponding railway switches, forming a set ofcatch points protecting the main line. The junction was opened for traffic in1985 , and it was in active use until2005 , when theElijärvi mine chosetruck s overtrain s for its ore transportation needs between Elijärvi andTornio .
