- John Kemmis
John Henry William Shore Kemmis (born: - died: ) was a provincial politician from
Alberta ,Canada . He served as a member of theLegislative Assembly of Alberta from 1911 to 1921.Political career
Kemmis first ran as for the Alberta Legislature as a Conservative candidate in the 1905 Alberta general election. He finished a very strong third place in the hotly contested four way race.
Kemmis would run again in a by-election on
October 31 ,1911 this time as the Conservative candidate. He would defeat Liberal candidate J.F. Ross to serve his first term as a member of the official opposition in the Legislative Assembly.The 1913 Alberta general election would see Kemmis barely re-elected to his second term, He would win the Pincher Creek electoral district by a slim 61 vote plurality.
Kemmis would be returned for a 3rd and final term in office in the 1917 Alberta general election. In that election he defeated two other candidates in another hotly contested 3 way race. Kemmis would serve out his full third term in office and would not run again in 1921.
