James Baker (cricketer)

James Bray Baker (born 1792 in Hailsham, Sussex; died 30 January 1839 in Hailsham) was an English cricketer who played for Sussex from 1816 to 1828. He also played for Kent in 1825 and 1826; and made appearances for The B's team in 1817 and 1828.

Baker was a member of the Sussex team in two of the three roundarm trial matches against All-England in 1827 to decide whether roundarm bowling should be legalised.

He is known to have made 15 first-class appearances. His record is 219 runs in 27 innings with a batting average of 8.42.
