Aziz Kelmendi (
January 15 ,1967 ,Lipljan ,SFR Yugoslavia –September 3 ,1987 ,Paraćin ,SFR Yugoslavia ) was aFaculty of Law regular student at theUniversity of Priština . An ethnic Albanian, he had been serving as aYugoslav People's Army soldier . OnSeptember 3 ,1987 , Kelmendi armed himself with anautomatic rifle , and in what would become known as theParaćin massacre , he shot dead four persons: twoBosniaks ; Safet Dudaković and Hazim Dženanović; one Croat, Goran Begić; and oneSerb , Srđan Simić. He also wounded five other persons. All of this happened at themilitary casern "Branko Krsmanović", in the town of Paraćin,Serbia . The mainwitness of the massacre wasRizo Alibašić . Following this, he ran away from military casern on the Karađorđevo hill, where he was eventually surrounded. He then committedsuicide .Biography
Kelmendi was born in Lipljan, but he completed the school in
Prizren . In 1984, he became a member of theCommunist party . At the Faculty of Law at the University of Priština, he completed two semesters and passed six examinations with solid grades. After the completion ofmilitary drill in MP5300Leskovac , Serbia, he was moved to MP7518 in Paraćin. Themilitary police investigation reported no kind of seriousconflict with other soldiers, however he was accused forthievery . At the time when massacre happened, he was serving the last month of hismilitary service .Political aftermath
The massacre provoked a political aftermath, rumors and doubts from the official version of the massacre. In the cities of Belgrade, Paraćin, Valjevo and Subotica, unidentified persons
