Alberta Adams (born Roberta Louise Osborne, c. 1920, Indianapolis,
Indiana ) is aDetroit blues ,jump blues andChicago blues singer . She was raised in Detroit,Michigan by a relative, and got her break in the 1940s performing in a club on Hastings Street amidst other artists likeJohn Lee Hooker .Soon after she landed a
recording contract withChess Records and recorded alongsideRed Saunders for the label. Adams found herself touring with the likes ofDuke Ellington ,Eddie Vinson andLouis Jordan . Her solo career did not lift off until the 1990s, when she landed a contract with the now defunct Cannonball Records and recorded twoalbum s for them, 1999's "Born With the Blues" and 2000's "Say Baby Say". Her latest album from 2004, entitled "I'm on the Move", was released on the Eastlawn Records label. [cite web
