The team colours are gold & black shirts, black shorts, and black stockings.The club was founded as Stowmarket F.C. in 1883, originally playing at the Cricket Meadow. In 1983 they were renamed Stowmarket Town, and a year later moved to Green Meadow. They joined the Eastern Counties League in 1952, having played earlier seasons in the
Essex and Suffolk Border League , and before that in the Ipswich & District League.The club won the Senior County Cup in 2007 playing against Grundisburgh, winning 2-1. The game was played in front of 1,480 people at Ipswich Town's
