- Logitech G9
The Logitech G9 is a corded
laser mouse produced byLogitech targeted at the gamer market. The G9 has a new body design when compared to the older models, the G5 and the G7. It sports a more boxy look rather than a round oval look. Just like the G5, it has a slot to insert weights. Several small weights are included and can be customized to the person's needs.
Features
The G9 is similar to the G5 with several updates. It features two interchangeable grips to suit the user's preference and just like the older 'G' series mouses, it uses a laser engine, but with a more precise 3200 dpi option. This can be changed on-the-fly from 200 dpi to 3200 dpi in increments of 200. The newer mouse also features micro-gear scrolling which can be switched, by a button on the underbelly, to a smooth scroll option.
Five different profiles can be stored on the G9 mouse, in an inboard
microchip . Many other user profiles can be held on a computer. Weights that are shipped with the mouse, four 7-gram weights and four 4-gram weights, can be inserted into any of the four slots in any combination leading to a full weight increase of 28 grams. The cord on the mouse is a braided texture leading to smoother sliding across tables, desks, benches, or whatever medium the user is mousing on. The mouse haspolytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon) feet on the bottom which provide much easier and smoother sliding. The
kidney bean shapeLogitech has used in the past has been abandoned for a sharper shape that is marketed towards hardcore gamers, facilitating more precise fingertip control of fine movements at the higher sensitivity settings made possible by the 3200 dpi laser engine. The two included grips, a wider grip with a satin-like finish and a smaller, more precise grip with a DryGrip finish, can be changed with the press of a quick-release button at the back end of the mouse. While the mouse can be used without either grip, which some users may find yields the lightest touch and tightest control, the underlying body of the mouse is small, narrow and nearly devoid of countouring, which may be uncomfortable and uncontrollable for users with average to large-sized hands. The color
LED s on the mouse can be changed via a menu on the includedsoftware . The colors cover the entire range of colors, including various shades of green, pink, red, and blue. [http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/mice/devices/3053&cl=us,en]ee also
