Ann Todd (
24 January 1909 , Hartford,Cheshire —6 May 1993 ,London ) was a popular English actress and producer.She was born in Hartford, Cheshire and was educated at St Winifrid's School in Eastbourne. She became a popular actress in such films as "Perfect Strangers" (1945) (as a nurse) and "
The Seventh Veil " (1947) (as a troubled concert pianist), as well as several ofDavid Lean 's films including "Madeleine " (1949) and "The Sound Barrier" (1952). Lean became her third husband. She later produced a series of travel films. Her autobiography is entitled "The Eighth Veil".She died from a stroke aged 84.
