Jason Moore (director)

Jason Moore is an American director of theater and television. He was born October 22, 1970, in Fayetteville, Arkansas and later studied at Northwestern University.

In 2003, Moore directed the musical "Avenue Q", which opened Off-Broadway at New York's Vineyard Theatre in March. Music and lyrics were by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and the book was by Jeff Whitty. After a strong critical reception, "Avenue Q" subsequently moved to Broadway's Golden Theatre in July 2003, where it is still running. He was nominated for a 2004 Tony Award for his direction of "Avenue Q". Jason Moore and Jeff Whitty are working together on a new musical based on Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City." Moore directed the 2005 Broadway revival of "Steel Magnolias".

For television, Moore has directed episodes of "Dawson's Creek", "One Tree Hill", "Everwood", and "Brothers & Sisters". He is currently developing an upcoming musical version of the film "Shrek", with music by Jeanine Tesori and book by David Lindsay-Abaire, which opens in Seattle, August 2008.
