Design
The building was designed by Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh. The architect explains the building: "Two cones, slightly shifted in plan, shape the building. The circular form opens up, by sharp cuts, with the entrance cutting as the most prominent...The floating character of the building corresponds to the setting on the lake." [1]
Discovery center
From the building visitors can view the fishes in the lake and also learn more about the wildlife in the national park. It is the largest German freshwater aquarium for local fish species. It has a modern and interactive exhibition about Müritz National Park and Lake Mueritz, the largest lake in Germany. Müritzeum opened for the public in August 2007.[2]
