Hassan Haji Mohamoud, also known as Hassan Gadhweyneh, as of 2007, is the Minister of Education in the
Republic of Somaliland. He was appointed the post in July 2003 by the current President of Somaliland, Dahir Riyale Kahin. He has previously served as the Governor of Saaxil between 1999 and 2003, and as the Mayor of Berbera from 1998 until 2002. Earlier, he served as the Vice-Mayor of Mogadishu from 1982 until 1991, and was a member of the Somali Parliament between 1981 and 1988.

In late 1997, he joined the UDUB party of Somaliland, citing his desire to improve living conditions in the country.Fact|date=August 2007

Background

Hassan Haji Mohamoud (Gadhweyneh) was born in the Somaliland city of Sheick. He lived in Mogadishu, Burco and Berbera during his childhood. Hassan comes from the Habar Awal clan of the Isaaq tribe.
