H. T. Kung (Kung, Hsiang-Tsung zh-cp|c=孔祥重|p=Kong Xiangchong), b.
November 9 ,1945 is acomputer scientist . His current research is primarily in the area ofcommunications networks andnetwork security , but his interests have been broad-ranging, includingcomplexity theory ,database theory,VLSI design, andparallel computing .He received his bachelor degree from
National Tsing Hua University inTaiwan andPh.D. fromCarnegie Mellon University , and first taught there, where his research included work on novel parallel computers and the popularization of theSystolic array . He joinedHarvard University in1992 , where he is currently theWilliam H. Gates Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. He is also co-chairing Harvard's PhD in Information, Technology and Management Program.He is a member of the
Academia Sinica inTaiwan , and also of theNational Academy of Engineering in theU.S.A. . He is a recipient of the Inventor of the Year Award by the Pittsburgh Intellectual Property Law Association in 1991. Prior to joiningHarvard in 1992, he taught atCarnegie Mellon , and led research projects on the design and experiment of novelparallel computers andswitch-based networks .ee also
