United Dairy Farmers

United Dairy Farmers (known locally as UDF) is a chain of shops offering ice cream and other dairy products started by Carl Lindner, Sr. and Carl Lindner, Jr. in 1938. The first United Dairy Farmers store, at 3955 Main Avenue (now Montgomery Road) Norwood, Ohio opened on May 8, 1940. The chain has stores throughout the Greater Cincinnati area, Dayton, Columbus and Cleveland.

Most UDF stores also operate a gas station and a convenience store. Since 2001, many locations have sold gasoline under the Mobil brand. [ [http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2001/06/23/fin_homemade_brand.html Homemade Brand anything but homebound ] ]

United Dairy Farmer's Homemade Brand Ice Cream is sold at UDF locations and in local grocery stores. Its chocolate variety was voted #1 Chocolate Ice Cream 2005 by "The Cincinnati Enquirer".
