Adam Rippon won the National silver medal on the novice level in 2005. As a result of his strong nationals showing, he was selected to compete at an
ISU Junior Grand Prix event, where he placed 6th. Due to his 11th place finish on the junior level at the 2006 Nationals, he did not earn a JGP event for 2006. At the 2007 Nationals, he placed 6th on the junior level.He changed coaches following the 2007 US Nationals, from
Yelena Sergeeva to Nikolai Morozov.In the 2007-2008 Junior Grand Prix season, Rippon won his first Junior Grand Prix event and won the silver medal at the second, qualifying him for the Junior Grand Prix Final. At the Junior Grand Prix Final, Rippon became the first man to break 200 points at a Junior level competition. He went on the
2008 U.S. Figure Skating Championships , where he won the Junior title. This earned him a trip to the2008 World Junior Figure Skating Championships , where he became the second American man in a row to win the title, and the first man in years to win that title without attempting a triple axel.The Professional Skaters Association recognized Rippon as having the best men's performance at the
