Assyrians and Syriacs in Israel

Assyrians and Syriacs in Israel

Approximately 700 Assyrians and Syriacs and a much smaller number of Chaldean Christians live in the State of Israel, mostly in the city of Jerusalem. The Assyrian Church of the East is represented by the Assyrian Archbishop of Jerusalem, while the Chaldeans have been represented since 1903 by a non-resident apostolic vicar. The current Assyrian Archbishop is Sewerios Malki Murad

The Syriac Orthodox monastery of Saint Mark lies in Jerusalem.

Many members of the Assyrian and Syriac diaspora make pilgrimages to holy sites within Israel proper and the Palestinian territories.
