He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm bowler, either medium-fast or leg-breaks and googlies. He was born in SouthBermondsey and died inStockwell , London. His brother Tom Abel and father, the renowned Surrey batsmanBobby Abel , were also first class cricketers.Abel won his Surrey cap in 1910 and scored his only first class hundred, 117, against Cambridge University. He took 5 wickets in an innings 3 times, with a best of 5 for 28 against Middlesex. He also played as the professional for
