Traditional Chinese :"黎子流",Simplified Chinese :"黎子流"), born in January, 1932 inShunde ,Guangdong ,China , was a formerMayor ofGuangzhou , serving from 1990 to 1997. He was born in afarm family and he studied for only 2 years in aprimary school .Li joined the
Chinese Communist Party in 1953. During theCultural Revolution between 1966 and 1969, he was listed as "rightist ", tortured by Red Guards and sent toprison for 2 years. In 1974, Li was appointed to be thechief secretary of Shunde County. In 1983, he was appointed to be the chief secretary ofJiangmen City. During his term of service, he drove the construction of thebridge linking between Jiangmen andZhongshan to improve the city's transportation network. In 1990, he was appointed to be Mayor of Guangzhou. He facilitated the constructions of highways toBaiyun Airport and theGuangzhou Metro during his term of service.
