- Parks Victoria
Parks Victoria is a government agency of the state of
Victoria, Australia . It was established in December 1996 and, as a statutory authority, it reports to the Minister for Environment and Climate Change. The "Parks Victoria Act 1998" makes Parks Victoria responsible for managingnational parks , reserves and other land under the control of the state, including historic sites and indigenous cultural heritage sites. [Parks Victoria Annual Report 2006-2007 p. 4]Since its establishment, Parks Victoria has developed a strong reputation nationally and internationally as a leading park management agency. The total area under management is over 40,000 square kilometres. It also manages 13 Marine National Parks and 11 smaller Marine Sanctuaries.
