next_year = 2002 The 2001 NBA All-Star Game was a matchup between the Eastern and the Western Conference All-Stars. It was held in front of a sellout crowd at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C. This was the 50th Edition of the annual event.
Allen Iverson was named All-Star Game MVP after he rallied the East back into the game with an improbable 111-110 comeback victory over the West. He finished with 25 points, 15 of those coming in the final nine minutes of the game. Stephon Marbury also helped the East by hitting two three-pointers in the crucial minutes, including a game-winner with 28 seconds left.

Kobe Bryant led the West with 19 points, who led as much as 21 before they surrendered the lead.
