History

Founded in 1965, the campus was then located at Upper Serangoon Road under the name of Li Sun High School. It was then a Chinese language school. Later, the school shifted its location to Ang Mo Kio, and was renamed Presbyterian High School. Since then, the school has changed its teaching language to English. Before 2000, PHS occupied a small plot of land located across the road from the Yio Chu Kang MRT Station, and shared an empty field with the neighbouring Li Hua Primary School and Ang Mo Kio North Primary School, even though PHS shared no affiliations whatsoever with either of the primary schools. In 2000, PHS moved to occupy the premises of the neighbouring Li Hua Primary School and Ang Mo Kio North Primary School, whose premises had been vacated as they merged to form Anderson Primary School, located further down the road. This was part of the on-site redevelopment project which involved the reconstruction of the entire Presbyterian High School campus and thus the existing school buildings had to be vacated and demolished.

Redevelopment

By 2002, Presbyterian High School's on site redevelopment was completed and students moved into the new set of buildings fronting the main thoroughfare. The school now boasts not only a fully air-conditioned hall and a clock tower, which are non-standard features paid for by the alumni and money raised over the years, but also its own school field as it has since taken over an empty plot of land located nearby. Since then, the school's academic rankings have been improving steadily year after year. The minimum PSLE aggregate points required for admission in 1998 were 221, whereas in 2007, the minimum aggregate necessary for admission was 235.Currently in 2008,the school is planning to raise funds to build a new indoor compeitive sports hall which would be ready in 2009 by starting a fund-raising fair.

Direct School Admission

In 2005, PHS's application for niche programme in Uniformed Groups was approved by MOE. Since then we are able to offer discretionary places under the Direct School Admission (DSA) Exercise. The Volleyball (Girls) was also chosen as a niche programme for the school. Hence, we are the first school offering double niche programmes.
