Tomas Ramirez

Tomas Santiago Ramirez is a fictional character in the Honorverse. He was born on the high-gravity planet San Martin in the Trevor's Star system. He was twelve when the People's Republic of Haven invaded. Escaping to Manticore, he later joined the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps. He commanded the Marine detachments aboard HMS "Fearless" and HMS "Nike" when Honor Harrington commanded those vessels. By the time of San Martin's voluntary annexation into the Star Kingdom of Manticore, Tomas Ramirez had become a Brigadier General in the Manticoran Marines, and helped set the provisional government of San Martin.

Tomas Ramirez belonged to a family of high standing on San Martin; his father, Commodore Jesus Ramirez, was the last commander of the San Martin Navy, and his great uncle Hector was the last President of San Martin. The Ramirez family helped organize the resistance against the Havenite occupation, and in response the Havenites wiped out every member of the Ramirez family left on San Martin.

But not quite all of them. Commodore Jesus Ramirez is sent to the Havenite secret prison planet of Hades, for possible political reuse at a later time. Honor Harrington, while trying to engineer a mass breakout from Hades, has to convince the tough old Commodore, who holds the respect of many of the prisoners. Her knowledge of Tomas' career, having crossed her own several times, convinces the Commodore, who had heard nothing of his son since the invasion of San Martin.Honorverse-stub
