Clement Street

= Clement Street, San Francisco, California =

Clement Street in San Francisco runs east-west and begins at Arguello Boulevard on the border of Laurel Heights and runs through to the Outer Richmond District, San Francisco, California. It is notable for the segment of Clement Street that intersects the Inner Richmond District and hosts a high density of Asian-themed restaurants and groceries. As such, this section of Clement street is known as one of the several "New Chinatowns" that dot San Francisco.

The Muni bus route, 2 Clement, runs along Clement street providing a much slower but parallel option to its more frequented neighboring routes such as a block south from Clement Street – the 38 Geary, and a block north, the 1 California. Traveling through Clement Street is best on foot as traffic is congested between 3rd and 10th Avenue. Clement Street begins on Arguello, and continues as numbered streets until after 12th Avenue follows Funston Avenue and Park Presidio Blvd. However, the numbered streets continue thereafter with 14th through 45th Avenue. At its western tip, Clement Street becomes Seal Rock Drive and funnels north into El Camino Del Mar, or south into Point Lobos Avenue.

Parking is primarily metered along Clement Street unless it is further west, past Park Presidio Boulevard, or anywhere a block or two north or south of it. These walkable options have free parking for 2 hours or residential parking if available. Traffic is slow and congested with double-parkers and stop signs. In the heart of the "New Chinatown" area, only 6th and 8th Avenue has a four-way street light. All other streets are two or four-way stop signs.
