Wang Wenxing

Wang Wenxing

Wang Wenxing (zh-cp|c=王文興|p=Wáng Wénxìng) was born in Fuzhou, Fujian in 1939 and grew up in Taiwan. He obtained his B.A. in Foreign Languages & Literature from the National Taiwan University and received an MFA from the University of Iowa. His first novel, "Jiabian" (zh-cp|c=家變|p=Jiābiàn) (loosely translated, "Family Catastrophe") was published in 1972, a story about a runaway father and a son who takes over the household in his stead. He has also published a novel entitled "Bei Hai De Ren" (Backed Against the Sea) as well as several collections of short stories.
