Daze of Haze

Daze of Haze

Daze of Haze (also known as DOH) was an American classic rock band formed in 2001. The band consisted of Keith Maples, Eric Parton, Dallas Duff, and Chris Bryer.

Lead guitarist Maples and drummer Parton originally formed the band during their freshman year of high school. They soon added bass player Bryer and struggled as an instrumental band for the first year. In 2002 lead vocalist Duff joined the band and they exploded onto the Augusta, Georgia music scene changing it forever.

Maples met record producer Ruskin Yeargain, who produced their debut album, "Where the Streetlights End" which was released in 2003. At first, Yeargain, like most veteran musicians in the area, had reservations about working with such a young band. After meeting the band he not only decided to produce the album but became a huge supporter of the band as well.

While the band was being interviewed on Clear Channel's "Eagle 102.3" (WEKL) classic rock station and Beasley Broadcast Group's "95Rock" (WCHZ), being written about in the Augusta Chronicle newspaper and "Augusta Magazine", among others, the rest of the country was listening. The band was invited to perform the pre-race show at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2003. Their stay in Las Vegas included a press conference at the Sahara Hotel, wall signing at the Nascar Cafe and special concert at the famous Fremont Street Experience.

Their big break came when LA music manager Karen Tobey flew to Augusta to see the band in person. The band performed to a sold out crowd at the Imperial Theatre and Tobey was hooked. Unfortunately this would lead to the band parting ways. With college, family, girlfriends, etc. pulling the band members in different directions, only Maples signed with Tobey and moved to Los Angeles.

Their charitable efforts included recording a compilation of Christmas songs benefiting the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center, mini concerts on ABC Television for the United States Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots drive, Military appreciation concert at Fort Gordon, and the "Jenny Clark Memorial Scholarship Fund" concert.
