Edward Howell was born in

He then went to college, followed by law school. Howell graduated in 1940 fromWillamette University College of Law inSalem, Oregon . Then with the onset ofWorld War II he joined theUnited States Army where he served as an intelligence officer in theAleutian Islands . He married Jane Howell and the couple would have three daughters.Judicial career
In 1949, Howell began his judicial career when he was appointed to Oregon’s 11th Judicial Career. On
February 19 1965 , Howell was appointed byOregon Governor Mark Hatfield to theOregon Tax Court to replacePeter M. Gunnar who had resigned.
