The Buff-throated Purpletuft ("Iodopleura pipra") is a species of bird in the Tityridae family. It has traditionally been placed in the cotinga family, but evidence strongly suggest it is better placed in Tityridae [ [http://www.museum.lsu.edu/~Remsen/SACCprop313.html Adopt the Family Tityridae] - South American Classification Committee (2007)] , where now placed by SACC.It is endemic to Atlantic forest in Brazil.

It is threatened by habitat loss.
