Binchester is a small village in County Durham, in England. It has a population of 271. There is also a Roman fort nearby [http://www.durham.gov.uk/durhamcc/usp.nsf/Lookup/Wear%20Valley%20Settlement%20Summary%20Sheets%20Numbers/$file/Wear+Valley+Settlement+Summary+Sheets+Numbers.pdf] . It is situated between Bishop Auckland, which is to the south, and a short distance to the west of Spennymoor. It has a community centre, swing park and football field and is surrounded by countryside.

In April 2007 Channel 4's Time Team visited Binchester Roman Fort. The programme about their investigation was broadcast on Channel 4 on January 13th 2008.
