The Austrian Research Promotion Agency is "the central Austrian organisation for promotion of research and innovation". It was a result of consolidating the Industrial Research Promotion Fund, the Austrian Space Agency, the Bureau for International Research and Technology Cooperation, and the Technology Impulse Society into one Agency. It was founded on 17 June 2004 with a National Council resolution. The Agency became active on 1 September 2004. The Agency planned to move into the Haus der Forschung in late 2005.
