|Halfway is a village in
County Cork , in Ireland. Halfway got its name from being situated approximately half-way betweenCork City and Bandon. However, with todays transport infrastructure and the expansion of Cork city, Halfway is now actually closer to Cork, than it is to Bandon. The village is situated 6 miles from
Cork Airport , and is just off the N71, which is the main road corridor connecting Cork city andWest Cork , and eventually onto Kerry. The Ramble Inn Bar and Lounge host an annual Halfway Vintage Rally, which is an annual meeting of Vintage car owners and lovers. The club meets for this annual event every September, and is based over a weekend. A parade of vintage vehicles is usually conducted through the village, and on the Sunday, a drive is completed, where members drive to a pre-designated location, have lunch and return to the Ramble Inn for celebrations.
Halfway formerly had two pubs, however there is now only the Ramble Inn pub. There used to be a shop/petrol station in the village but it has closed and the land is marked for property development. Much of the village has seen a boom in development over the last few years. The Ballinhassig
Garda station is also located in the of the village.Road bowling is sometimes played on the national road between the villages of Halfway andBallinhassig . [ [http://www.irishroadbowling.ie/results.htm irishroadbowling.ie] ]There are several
