This limpet is commonly found from mid to low tide in both sheltered and exposed situations.
hell description
The shell is high-conical to low in profile, unusually coarsely sculptured with about eleven sharp, primary radial ribs, a moderately strong, and two weaker intermediates in every interspace.
The shell coloration is very distinctive in well-preserved examples; there is a pattern consisting of eleven black radial bands, each with a series of white dots, on a greyish to light brownish ground. The interior has eleven rays, either as solid brown stripes, or with the stripes split up into multiple lines, with diffused light brown in the central area.
The maximum shell length is 50 mm, width 42 mm, and height 18.5 mm.
